Annual Congregational Meeting

 

June 2nd, 2024   

We will start at noon with a potluck picnic lunch starting at noon.  Brisket and hotdogs will be provided.  Please bring a salad, side dish or dessert to share.

The meeting will start at 1:30 PM and we should be done by 3:00 PM

We will be approving the 2024-2025 budget, voting for a slate of officers and reviewing all of the committee reports.  If you have not received your meeting packet with the information, please call the office at 661-322-7607 and leave a message.  We will make sure a replacement packet is sent to you.

Help in Support of Israel

Thanks to our members and an overwhelming response from our friends and neighbors in Bakersfield and all over the country, Temple Beth El has been able to donate over $35,000 to Israeli humanitarian agencies.  It is a good start, but the need continues.  If you would like to help, you can make a donation HERE.

I took the Commandments seriously. However, one of the Commandments deeply resonated above all others: "You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor," meaning "You shall not lie" (Exodus 20:13). This affected me most because I was lying to others and myself about a core aspect of my identity: my bisexuality.

While we recognize that the deep conflict between Israelis and Palestinians will not be resolved over the summer, we believe that come the fall, college campuses must once again be safe for all students - and this includes Jewish students living their Jewish commitments openly and proudly.
